Holistic Drug Rehab
Our Holistic Drug Rehab provides a recovering environment that allows our clients to seek their own spiritual paths without being forced to adhere to beliefs that are not truly their own. We respect the rights and beliefs of our clients and understand that the spiritual journey can be the most important part of anyone’s program of recovery.
In order to accomplish this, we have designated five “tracks” or paths that are used to compliment the cognitive therapy that the client receives: Faith Based, Self Help or 12-step, Cognitive, Holistic and Native American Spirituality.
Our Holistic Drug Rehab track is ideal for one of several different clients:
- The client who isn’t receptive to typical 12-step drug rehab programs, nor is comfortable in a Christian Faith based environment. They may or may not be resistant to spiritual teachings, but are seeking their own path to recovery.
- The client who is seeking to enhance their current recovery system with holistic means.
- The client who has a spirituality or belief in spiritual matters, but doesn’t have a definite label on their belief system. Holistic, pagan or healing arts would be examples of such a person.
We have a series of elements of our Holistic Drug Rehab track that can provide the addict or alcoholic with the enhancement to their drug treatment program here at Forever Recovered. These elements can include:
- Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT)
- Acupuncture
- Yoga
- Lectures by recovering addicts, alcoholics and counselors
- Guided imagery and relaxation sessions
- The philosophy and spirituality of Martial Arts in terms of Recovery
Coupled with the intensive Inventory and Self-Discovery piece of the Holistic Drug Rehab program, a client can uncover, discover and discard those things in their life which are blocking them off from recovering from their addictions. Removing years of guilt, shame and remorse can reveal the person that they truly are and allow them to continue their life afterwards, clean and sober…an empowered being.
We, at Forever Recovered, feel that in giving the client the right to choose these spiritual enhancements to their program actually empowers the client and makes their recovery truly their own. Unfortunately many conventional Holistic Drug Rehab centers tell clients that “if they don’t accept their particular brand of recovery they probably won’t stay sober”. Our goal is to help the client discover their own recovery tools that will work for best them, and our Self Help Drug Rehab track is an effective enhancement to the recovering person looking for recovery through support groups and recovering communities.
Our Holistic Drug Rehab Counselors
In order to create such a successful approach to recovery, we have a large variety of counselors from many different modalities of drug rehabilitation available at Forever Recovered. Some of our counselors have worked in 12-step programs and others in Christian faith-based drug treatment centers. Others have gotten sober themselves through cognitive programs, while others practice their own brand of spirituality. With a staff of Christians, Buddhists, Spiritual Teachers and even atheists, we feel that we can help those of our clients to find their own way.
Rev. Sokuzan Bob Brown
Bob leads the Holistic Track at night and the clients have an option to go out to the Buddhist Community on Wednesday evening and Sunday mornings.
Bob is a member of the Chaplaincy Advisory Council of the Michigan Department of Corrections in Lansing. He goes into several prisons in Michigan as a volunteer, to teach relaxation to inmates who are Buddhist. Bob is currently the head teacher at SokukoJi Buddhist Community, a Soto Zen Buddhist temple in Battle Creek, Michigan. Their website is www.sokukoji.org.
