Addiction has Negative effects on friends, family, school, work, and in nearly every aspect of an addict's life.
The abuser continues to use the substance despite the effect that it may have on their life. You may find that your friends and family members ignore you or constantly ride you about your substance abuse. You may find that things that were once terribly important to you now take a backseat to your drug/alcohol use. You may find that your job is in jeopardy as a result of your addiction. You may feel as if you have lost total control of your life and that everything is spiraling out of control. You may think that there is no way out, but there is. Once you can admit to your addiction, your recovery process can begin.
Stage 1 – Detoxification and Withdrawal
The very first part of any drug rehabilitation program must include withdrawing from any immediate effects of the drugs. We have two methods of accomplishing this. For someone not wanting to experience the full symptoms of opiate withdrawal, or individuals on a very high level of alcohol consumption, methadone or other prescription drugs, a medically supervised detoxification is available.
Stage 2 – Self Control and Communication Exercises
Drugs block unwanted feelings in life, but also essentially numb a person to the point where they cannot confront life in general, not just those undesirable parts. During this part of the First Step Program, clients are paired together to do a series of exercises that are designed to increase self control, comfort and communication. By being paired with another client, each individual also starts to increase responsibility oneself as well as for another.
Stage 3 – Sauna Cleansing Process
Since our bodies are built with organs to help get rid of toxins, some people assume that when somebody has withdrawn from a drug and are no longer under the immediate effects of it, then it is out of their body. While it may not be detectable on urinalysis or a blood test after a few days or weeks, it doesn’t mean the drugs aren't out of the body.
Stage 4 – Study Improvement
It has been discovered that there is a correlation with misunderstandings in life and seeking escape. When someone doesn’t fully understand something then he often pulls away from it and seeks something else to fill that void. The study impromvement section of our drug rehab helps the student learn how to get the most of their social education.
Stage 5 – Drug-Free Remedies for Discomforts
Our current society has become one where people are offered a pill for just about anything. It’s difficult to read a magazine or watch television without seeing and advertisement for one drug or another, by prescription or over the counter. Pushing drugs on a former addict, no matter how seemingly harmless, is not a good idea and our program offers techniques to help individuals confront and handle physical and emotional discomfort without using drugs.
