Addiction and Rehab
Addiction and rehab are two terms that go hand in hand. Where does an addict turn for help? Hopefully, to a facility like ours, developed for the sole purpose of guiding our clients through a rehabilitation program so they can live a life free from the relentless, devastating pull of drugs. By completing drug rehab the client undergoes several steps that teach him how to cope with an addictive life style by relinquishing those choices and embracing new choices.
A Forever Recovery, Addiction and Rehab
Each step of the program leads to more autonomy. First the client detoxifies and learns how drugs were overwhelming his body. Next the client takes the first steps toward self-awareness. He finally understands that feelings are a normal part of life and must be felt, no matter how uncomfortable they make us feel. Detoxifying is extremely uncomfortable. Nausea, vomiting, sweating, convulsions, and runny nose are just a few of the detoxifying symptoms. When the client gets through this phase, the next step is getting in touch with his feelings and learning how to deal with them.
Day after day living reveals the client’s emotional weaknesses. Addiction and rehab require that the client reconnects to the world in a healthier manner. By starting with his true feelings, the client begins to see the world through realistic and healthy eyes. Drugs no longer offer an escape from reality, and he must honestly face his issues with intimate and casual relations. Learning to embrace this honesty frees the client from dependency on addiction. As long as the client is willing to fight through the steps of the program, he’ll emerge from it better prepared for the world.
